Violent bank heists, inventive blackmail schemes, flamboyant gangsters, power politics, greed, evangelicals and sex collide in CARTER & JUNE.
Down-and-out grifter, Carter Jennings (Michael Raymond-James), feeling the sting of recent money troubles and the beatings they bring on, finds himself without the finances to payback the ruthless New Orleans gangster/strip club owner, Spencer Rabbit (Timothy Omundson). When Carter catches wind of a bank robbery about to go down, he imagines a pile of cash massive enough to pay all of his debts and vanish. But he also knows that a score that big could get him the one thing he wants more than money; his ex-flame, June O’Malley (Samaire Armstrong). Lucky for him, June’s at the bottom of a mountain of money troubles that she just can’t climb. Together, Carter & June craft a plan to piggy-back on the bank robbery while in progress and snag their largest score ever before disappearing out of New Orleans. A distraction here, a bag switch there, perfect planning, and even better timing will make sure nobody gets hurt. Bullets fly and bodies drop as the robbery takes a deadly turn leading Carter & June down a path of blackmail, double crosses and power plays between dirty politicians and New Orleans crime bosses. Quick wits and faster bullets are the only way to escape with their lives, and each other.
